NAIDOC Week 2018 will be held nationally from Sunday 8 July and continue through to Sunday 15 July. As this occurs during school holidays, KPS will celebrate NAIDOC week from the 25th of June until the 29th.

This year’s Theme – Because of Her, We Can! – we honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women who have played, and continue to play, active and significant roles at the community, local, state and national levels.

Our Koori Education Support Officer, Rachel Carter, will be joining us at assembly on Monday the 25th of June to share some cultural insights and to ensure that the cultural significance of this week is fully understood by the students and KPS community. Classroom and specialist teachers are planning a wide range of activities throughout NAIDOC Week to engage students, raise their cultural awareness and celebrate diversity in language, dance, music and art. Indigenous families are invited to meet Rachel Carter after assembly for morning tea in the Library.
